and the civil war took place, and maybe it’s because of this that there are so many haunted houses
and haunted buildings, and even haunted hospitals.
There are plenty of people in this world who have accounts of experiences that have occurred at
various hospitals in Georgia. Due to the occurrences of such events in the same location and
witnessed by many people, these facilities are believed to be haunted. It generally takes such an
experience to get someone to believe in it though.
Of course you will find people tend to flock to these hospitals in Georgia to find out for themselves
if the rumors are true or not. Here is some great information on what has been circulating about
the various haunted hospitals in Georgia. Once you read about them you can decide for yourself it
is something you would like to find out more about.
There are actually many different haunted hospitals in Georgia probably a lot more than in other
states. Some spirits of former hospitals go as far back as the civil war. As in the example of the
Kennesaw house, although it is a house, at one time it was used to treat soldiers from the civil war;
people say that from time to time they still see injured civil war soldiers roaming about.
There have been plenty of reports of the sounds of keys on an old typewriter constantly being
accessed. Yet there are no such typewriters in the facility.
Employees also tell of the doors being closed behind them as they go down the halls at night.
Some have even seen a lady in an older fashion nurses uniform carrying trays of supplies. You
may visit these haunted hospitals, but listen for a scream or two from around you, you may even
spout out one yourself

Ghosts seem to be working very hard at the Old Douglas Hospital located in Douglas, Georgia, is
said to be one of the haunted hospitals in Georgia.
Dunwoody Insane Asylum
Perhaps one of the most frightening haunted hospitals in Georgia is the Dunwoody Insane Asylum.
There are cold breezes that come over people as they stand in rooms where there is no air
naturally circulating. Many claim that they can feel hands reaching out to them as they walk down
the hallways. There have also been rumors of ghostly figures lying in the morgue.
Newman Hospital
There is often a shortage of nurses at many hospitals, and it is believed that the ghost nurse at
the Newman Hospital that makes the rounds at midnight is just trying to help. Some of the staff as
well as patients claim to have seen her. Yet they feel at peace around her. Some patients who
were thought to not make it through the night made a miraculous recovery too after the ghost
nurse was seen around them.
Friendship Nursing Home in Cleveland, Georgia
Residents say there is a little boy that wears a red cap that walks through the halls. When he is
seen, there are usually three deaths that follow, two that were expected and one that wasn’t. The
little boy is also known to go outside at night, and residents have been known to throw him their
blankets because he seems cold.
If you are interested in experiencing these haunted hospitals in Georgia, you can find plenty of
information about them online. You can find out their location and if the public is allowed to go
there or not. Be prepared for the unnatural to take place though as you never know where ghosts
of the past will be spending eternity.
Not all of them are open to the public though so you want to find out about this. Some that are
closed will allow visitors to schedule a tour. Others are completely off limits and you will be
prosecuted to the full extent of the law if you trespass. In many of these areas the police patrol on
a regular basis so don’t think about just sneaking inside for a peek.


Visitors and locals alike believe the Marine hospital in Savanna Georgia to be haunted. The hospital is
located in the down town historic district and is considered to be the most haunted structures in all of
Savanna Georgia. The hospital was built in 1905 and continued to be in business until the early 1980s.
It was built in part as a marine hospital service in an effort to care for the ill and disabled seaman of the U.S.
merchant marines. The service was an act of the 5th Continental Congress and was signed into law by
president John Adams. Under the act, the department of treasury was required to "provide for relief and
manitnance of disabled seaman. The Merchant Hospital fund goverened the series of hospitals at sea and
river ports. The funds to run the hospital came from the seaman itself, they were charged .20 cents a
month. The fund created the first publically funded hospital and disease prevention institute in America.
The Marine Hospital fund was marred a scandal shortly after the civil war. The fund had become inadequet
and completely disorganized. It was reorganized as the Marine Hospital service in 1871.
These hospitals are said to be Haunted hospitals in Georgia, it is believed that civil war soldiers spirits /
ghost rome these hospitals. I don't know about you, but the pure thought of just seeing these ghost scare
me. I don't know if I would be able to handle actually being at one of these haunted hospitals.
If I did decide to visit these haunted hospitals, then I would have to go with a group, this is no way I could go
by myself. Just imagine for a second that you walking down the hall of one of these hospitals and at the end
of the hallway you see a ghost, who was a person that was injured in the civil war and then died at the
hospital and he is now there to haunt it. Not only that, but he is there to scare the heck out of, or maybe
even harm you in some way. So again, I would feel much better with a group.
I love Georgia though it's a great state and it's not a haunted state.
